What does diversity mean to you?
It means engaging and empowering differences in any viewpoints, perspectives, and opinions. It means cultivating inclusive environments where every human feels respected, valued & a sense of belonging. It means recognizing that humans have unequal starting lines and investing in all structural changes needed to create equitable opportunities, development and access for all.
What is one thing you wish you knew five years ago?
The power of authentic vulnerability, especially with total strangers.
What is your advice to a young person starting their career or entrepreneurial journey?
It takes a village. You are the sum total of the 5-10 people you spend the most time with. Surround yourself with people that have diverse viewpoints, backgrounds and experiences.
Don’t take too much advice from others; focus on learning the right questions to ask yourself. These will help guide you.
Do the work, but be patient with yourself. It takes time to figure out what you want to do and who you want to be.
Don’t stay in a role that continuously forces you to sacrifice your mental or physical health. Some people say tech is a marathon, others say it a series of sprints. I think of it as a really long CrossFit workout…work hard, and take the breaks when you need them.
